Get the app
Pick the apps that pull you in. Evolve blocks them. To get one back you hold the screen. One hold is one minute, and every minute costs more than the last.
Free. No account. Nothing collected. iPhone, iOS 18 or later.
Why limits fail
One tap and the limit is gone for the day. You have pressed it. So has everyone.
Locked out completely or let back in completely. Nothing in between asks whether this minute is worth it.
Nobody rations what costs nothing. So the minutes go and you never feel them leave.
How it works

Choose the ones that pull you in. Evolve blocks them.

Reach for one and Evolve stops you, and tells you how many times you have reached for it today.

One hold is one minute. The first costs one second, the second costs two, the third costs three.

When your minutes run out the apps block themselves. You see where the day went, hour by hour.
The price list
You can always get in. You just cannot do it on autopilot. This is what one sitting costs, paid by holding the screen.
| 1 minute | 1 sec |
| 5 minutes | 15 sec |
| 10 minutes | 55 sec |
| 30 minutes | 7 min 45 sec |
| 1 hour | 22 min 45 sec |
Hard mode on a light day. Heavier days start higher. Easy mode is gentler.

What it really costs
If you are 18, about 223 months are left after sleep, school, work and chores. At the average pace, 93 percent of them go to a screen. That is 17 years. Cut it to two hours a day and 13 of those years come back.
Evolve works this out for your own age when you open it. Screen time: Common Sense Media, 2021. Month math: Dino Ambrosi.

From the founder
I'm Charlie. I'm a senior in high school. A couple of years ago I scrolled for five hours in one sitting and I felt awful after. I downloaded a lot of screen time apps and I got around every one of them.
The first version of Evolve asked you to type why you wanted to open an app. It worked for a while, and then I caught myself lying to it. So I rebuilt it around the one thing I could not lie to, which is holding a button.
Evolve is free and it collects nothing. It is built for people who already want to change. I hope it helps you the way it helped me.

If you are determined to, yes. Evolve does not pretend to be unbeatable. It is here for the moments when you are not determined, which is most of them.
